SMS Siemag Process Technologies provides advanced hydrometallurgical processes and plants based on pyrohydrolysis, hydrolysis, ion exchange, electrolysis, membrane dialysis, solvent extraction and selective precipitation. Our plants handle metals, ores as well as chemical leaching and pickling agents. We are very well experienced in production processes for metal oxides and hydroxides such as Fe2O3, MgO, Mg(OH)2, Al2O3, CoO and TiO2 as well as in the efficient recovery of HCl, HF, HNO3 and other acids from metal salt solutions.

Our Hydrothermal Acid Regeneration Process (patent pending) presents a breakthrough in energy saving, environmental compliance and operational flexibility. This process is also applied for HCl recovery and selective hydrolysis of hematite in chloride based hydrometallurgical processing of sulphide and laterite ores before base metal (e.g. copper, zink, nickel, cobalt) extraction. Furthermore it comprises a key step in future bauxite processing routes, that will avoid the generation of red mud. Besides that SMS Siemag offers processes that regenerate your waste pickle liquors utilizing conventional, well proven Spray Roaster or Fluidized Bed technology.
